| Juror’s Statement by Judy Greenberg, AWS |
First, let me commend the Waterloo Watercolor Group for a most outstanding
presentation of paintings. It is unusual to find such a high quality of
work in a rather small association, thus making my job that much more
difficult. To be asked to jury an art show is an honor and a most daunting
task.
When presented with the work before me, I immediately am attracted to those
paintings that are bold, intriguing, have an emotional impact, and show
personal involvement. I expect a painting to have good paint quality,
meaning a confidence in the use of the medium in terms of paint application,
and most importantly, to display good design. Our goals should not be to
present images as you have seen others do so, but to present them in a way
that is particular to you and your individual sense.
Though some have been singled out to receive special recognition, each
artist who entered this show has work that should be seen, now or in future
shows. Congratulations to all for a meaningful show. I hope this exhibit
inspires everyone who sees it about the magic of water media.
Thank you to all who did such a wonderful job to make this show possible.
And thank you for trusting my judgment as your juror.
