We will all take a picnic lunch and our own refreshments.
I do hope you all will think about this beautiful area south of Austin, it is a wonderful place to paint and have fun.

This is lovely little hidden treasure right in the middle of suburbia, so do try and make this one, there are pathways into the bushland with lovely rocky escarpments to paint or the lovely creek itself, wherever you look, there is a painting dying to be done.
No excuses now, just pack up that easel and a stool and your paint gear, and come !
Galveston May 23rd and 24th.
Well our long awaited trip to Galveston is now all set. So get your art things packed and be ready for a fun time.
I have booked us into a wonderful B&B within walking distance to the Strand where all the action is.
This B&B is an old Victorian home, absolutely exquisite architecture and an artist's paradise, as are most of the Galveston mansions.
You may visit the website and see the place yourselves. Click on the rooms, and the Garden apartment. www.vicbb.com
The home is three stories high, with lovely verandahs and balconies. I have booked us mostly on the second floor. For older members who do not like to climb stairs, (no lifts, sorry) I have also reserved the garden apartment on ground level . This sleeps 4 people.
Remember, we will have to double up in queen and king beds to do this. Most rooms seem to be set up this way.
We will have full range of the kitchen, although breakfast is included in the room rate.
Things to do in Galveston are too numerous to mention here, but rest assured, there is plenty.
We have art night on Saturday 24th, and I am told, this is a great way to browse galleries and see what other artists are up to.
For eating places, we have so many great restaurants, we will have to book one (I am told is wonderful food) weeks in advance, so I am onto that !
I was in my element taking photos everywhere when I was scoping the places out in Galveston to paint.
Boats, birds, wonderful old churches, buildings and street scenes to die for complete with the horse and surrey with the fringe on top.
Now what more can we ask for people?
I know May is still a few weeks away, however, I need commitments from you to secure a place.
If you are interested in this trip, you need to call me (Rae Andrews) at 512-266-0833 or e/mail me at rae4art@aol.com to reserve a place.

APRIL 30 DALLAS MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS BUS TRIP
For those of you who have been waiting for Pam Mitchell to organize another one of her infamous bus trips, it is happening on Wednesday, April 30, 2008. J. M. W. Turner: This will be the largest and most comprehensive retrospective ever presented in the United States of the career of J. M. W. Turner (1775–1851), one of the greatest landscape painters in the history of art. The exhibition of approximately 140 works, divided almost evenly between oils and works on paper, will include masterworks representing his extensive range of subjects—seascapes, topographical views, historical events, mythology, modern life, and scenes from his own fertile imagination. Many of these works have never been shown in the United States.Julian Onderdonk: This spring the Dallas Museum of Art will present Bluebonnets and Beyond: Julian Onderdonk, American Impressionist, celebrating the work of a great landscape artist and native son. During his short life, Julian Onderdonk (1882–1922) transformed the Texas landscape, creating indelible images of the Lone Star State. One of William Merritt Chase’s most dazzling students at the Shinnecock Summer School in Long Island, Onderdonk brought Chase’s aesthetic of nature to an entirely new part of the American landscape. By his death at age 40, Onderdonk had been christened “The Bluebonnet Painter” in recognition of the success of his lush signature landscapes of fields of the state flower. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ MAIL FORM WITH YOUR CHECK for $80 ($85 for nonmembers) to Pam Mitchell, 6401 Woodcrest Drive, Austin, Texas 78759.
